#7 Dancing at the WaWa

I have the good fortune to travel back and forth from Alexandria, VA, quite frequently to a house that we have in Virginia Beach.  About half way along the road trip, Dolly the poodle and I always stop at a particular convenience store to empty and refill. I always stretch my legs, use the facilities, and buy some refreshment. On this particular trip, I noted that they were playing music pretty loudly throughout the store.  As I was checking out, I heard them rocking it out with Earth, Wind, and Fire’s “September” straight from 1978.

One little boy was waiting next to the bank of coffee flavors as his father was making his selection. Most delightfully, this little boy, born nearly 35 years after this infectious hit, had to do what that tune makes you have to do. He danced. He just had to move his body.  No worries about what other people might think. No embarrassment or insecurity was there to stop him. The power of the beat has not withered one bit in 35 years. I could not contain the joy I felt from that spontaneous moment.

Sometimes you just gotta dance.
